A mother's worst nightmare comes true when she plunges into the icy water and only has time to save one child.  Once the accident is investigated it seems that maybe it wasn't really an accident.

A tragic story that deals with loss and grief.  One thing I loved about this story was its ability to show how each family member dealt with the death of a their sister/daughter and how that death it impacted each of them differently.  I also loved the mystery side of the story. I feel like it combined two of my favorite genres into one.  I was intrigued by the mystery and heartbroken over certain parts of the story.

There is a certain aspect of the story that I was not a huge fan of and maybe I will feel differently after sitting on this story for awhile. It's a mothers worst nightmare to choose between two children. I couldn't even put myself in her shoes because it was too hard. In the end, there is a reason she choose one daughter over the other and I am not sure how I feel about it. On one hand I am not sure the author should have went there and on the other she went in a direction other authors would have been to afraid to go. So maybe that's a good thing.  I do think it was handled well. I think? I'm rambling. Overall this was just ok for me. I wasn't wowed by the ending either. I would be curious to chat with someone who has read it though.  So if you do let me know!
