What is this book about?
Mia is an artist that moves to Shaker Heights with her daughter Pearl and rents a house from the Richardsons and soon become more than just renters. All four Richardson children are very interested in Mia and Pearl. But Mia carries a secret past and when the Richardsons’ friends attempted to adopt a Chinese-American baby, a custody battle divides Mrs Richardson and Mia. As a result, Mrs Richardson decides to try to uncover the secrets of Mia’s past.

What did I think?
I added this book to my list when I saw that there was going to be a show on Hulu. I thought that the book was a little slow in the beginning but picked up in the middle. Overall I wasn’t super excited about it. The characters were well developed but the storyline was kinda dry for me. I often felt like there was to much going on and it felt a little disjointed at times. I am happy I read it and I am excited to watch the show. I haven’t looked into it much but I see Reese playing Mrs Richardson and doing a fantastic job at it.
