“When she gardens, she never sees the seed. She is already picturing the plant it will become”

A beautiful story about love, forgiveness and the Holocaust. Sage, heartbroken after the loss of both her mother and father meets a man named Josef in her grief group. A meeting that will forever change the course of her life. He is looking for forgiveness for the terrible acts he committed during WWII. Though this heartbreaking story, Sage finds the meaning of her life and begins to find herself again.

This story is a masterpiece and beautifully written. It’s told from several points of view and Jodi Picoult does an amazing job connecting these characters together. The plot was well thought out and the story made you feel so many emotions at the same time. The final twist was pretty predictable but overall I still really loved the story. The characters felt like people I knew and had met in real life. If you enjoy historical books about the Holocaust then this story is for you.

QOTD: What was your last emotional read?
